Hello and thank you for taking the time to peruse this online portfolio.
My name is Samantha - an archaeologist turned GIS technician. This was a natural transition of overlapping skill sets imparted by the detailed nature of both professions. From collection of data and processing, analysis and final products, to overarching quality assurance procedures and proper documentation, I have worked along the entire lifecycle of information based services and can bring a valued and well-rounded geomatics perspective to your company.

Skillset
Geomatics
• Intermediate knowledge of GIS technologies. In particular ArcGIS 9.3 through to 10.3 and opensource QGIS for manipulation, maintenance, and analysis of vector and raster datasets.
• Use of PCI Geomatica and ERDAS Imagine for manipulation of satellite imagery including band composites, image enhancements, orthorectification, and image classification.
• Microstation and TerraSolid suite for LiDAR analysis (i.e. classification, validation and calibration).
• Experience in mapping and survey grade GPS collection (i.e. static, kinematic, network creation). Post-processing procedures completed with Leica GeoOffice.
• Proficient in the use of CorelDraw Graphics Suite and Adobe Photoshop CS5 for creating and manipulating graphic elements.
• Application of cartographic principles and standards for designing effective and pleasing map products.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD for use in drafting and raster design.
Technology
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Libre Office and OpenOffice suites.
• Linux and Windows operating systems used for home and work computers.
• Programming in Python and EASI. Some familiarity with R, C++ and HTML.
• Excellent organizational skills from computer file structure to time management.
Fieldwork
• Archaeological techniques to uncover, study, and preserve physical evidence.
• Application of theoretical frameworks to procedure and analysis.
• Tickets for OH&S, WHMIS, Standard First Aid & CPR Level C, Trailering, Defensive Driving, Wildlife Awareness, TDG, H2S Alive, UTV, and PCST. Previous training in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention.
• Class 5 Alberta Driver’s License.
